The Government Office has just issued Notice No. 89/TB-VPCP dated February 26, 2026, conveying the conclusion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the Steering Committee, at the 23rd meeting of the State Steering Committee for nationally important and key transport projects.
Specifically, for Phase 1 of the Long Thanh International Airport Project, the Prime Minister requested ministries, agencies, especially Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), to urgently review the remaining workload, develop a detailed plan, and organize construction in a reasonable and scientific manner to ensure the project's completion in the first half of 2026. At the same time, they are responsible before the Party, Government, Prime Minister, and the people for the project's progress, quality, and safety. The principle is to strictly handle violations according to the law and prevent any bottlenecks during project implementation.

Previously, in mid-January 2026, in a report sent to the Government on the implementation of Phase 1 of the Long Thanh Airport Project, the Ministry of Construction assessed that many important project items were nearing completion. However, to meet the completion schedule and put the project into commercial operation by June 2026, a great effort is still needed from investors and contractors, especially for packages with large construction volumes, namely packages 4.8 and 5.10 under Component Project 3.
According to the Ministry of Construction, ACV and the contractors have made efforts to ensure the progress of these two packages. However, these packages involve a very large volume of finishing work, especially package 5.10, which mainly uses manual labor and less machinery and equipment, thus still posing a risk of delay compared to the adjusted schedule. Therefore, the Ministry of Construction proposed that ACV continue to direct contractors to mobilize more personnel and construction equipment to organize the implementation of construction items, especially for packages 4.8 and 5.10.
On February 23, 2026 (the 7th day of the Lunar New Year (Tet) of the Horse, a launch ceremony was held at the project site to mark the start of the lunar year. According to ACV, following the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board and contractors have maximized resources, increased personnel, mobilized machinery and equipment, and simultaneously organized the construction of key items right from the beginning of the new year.
