On March 9, Deputy Secretary of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee (PPC) and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Ut chaired an online conference reviewing the province’s socio-economic situation in February and the first two months of 2026.
Attending the meeting were member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Kim Long; Vice Chairpersons of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang and Ho Van Ha; member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Director of Provincial Public Security Nguyen Duc Hai; member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Department of Finance Truong Thi Huong Binh; along with leaders of provincial departments, agencies and localities.

Socio-economic growth remains positive
Reporting on the province’s socio-economic performance in February 2026, Director of the Department of Finance Truong Thi Huong Binh said the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in February was estimated to decline by 6.48 percent compared with the previous month. However, compared with the same period last year and considering the first two months of 2026 as a whole, industrial production still maintained positive growth momentum. Cumulatively, the IIP in the first two months of the year increased by 13.85 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, agricultural, forestry and fishery production across the province remained stable, while commercial and service activities were vibrant during the Tet holiday period.

Regarding state budget collection and spending, by the end of Feb 2026, total state budget revenue reached more than 23.5 trillion VND, equivalent to 23 percent of the estimate assigned by the Prime Minister and approved by the Provincial People’s Council. Local budget expenditure totaled 9.7 trillion VND, meeting 17 percent of the central government’s annual estimate.
Investment attraction also recorded encouraging results in the first two months of the year. Domestic investment attraction reached over 15.5 trillion VND, including 10 newly licensed projects. Meanwhile, foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction totaled more than 740 million USD, with 22 new projects receiving investment certificates worth a combined 280 million USD.
Alongside economic performance, socio-cultural activities as well as national defense and security remained generally stable during the first two months of the year. Preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term were also actively carried out. Communication and public outreach activities were organized under diverse forms tailored to the characteristics of each locality.

Despite these positive outcomes, Dong Nai’s socio-economic situation in the first 2 months of the year still faced several challenges. Industrial production declined compared with the previous month, while prices of certain goods, services and input materials showed an upward trend due to global uncertainties, affecting domestic production and business activities. In addition, the disbursement rate of public investment capital remained low, reaching only 3.55 percent of the 2026 plan in the first two months. Meanwhile, infectious diseases such as dengue fever and hand-foot-and-mouth disease showed signs of increasing.
Developing software to monitor progress of key projects daily
After listening to opinions from leaders of provincial departments, localities and Vice Chairpersons of the Provincial People’s Committee regarding tasks and solutions for March and the coming period, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Ut requested relevant units to closely follow the resolutions of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People’s Committee’s plans in managing and administering socio-economic activities. In particular, authorities must closely monitor projects and public investors on a monthly and quarterly basis, while also tracking budget collection progress at commune and ward levels as well as by sector. Detailed reports should be prepared to assess economic growth in the first quarter and identify key sectors requiring attention in March to sustain growth momentum.

According to Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, budget revenue collection must be accelerated from the beginning of the year in order to achieve the highest possible results. Greater attention must also be paid to public investment disbursement. At the same time, relevant agencies were urged to complete planning tasks early to create favorable conditions for enterprises to invest in new projects and expand production and business activities.

Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Ut also asked provincial departments and localities to focus on removing difficulties for enterprises. Authorities must carefully analyze domestic and international developments in order to develop appropriate scenarios to support businesses. Ensuring energy security and maintaining sufficient supplies of fuel and electricity for production, business operations and daily life were also emphasized. In parallel, the province will continue to accelerate the implementation of key infrastructure projects.
The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee assigned the Department of Science and Technology to coordinate with the Department of Construction and relevant units to compile a list of major projects and apply software and digital technologies to monitor their progress on a daily basis, enabling provincial leaders to manage and direct implementation more effectively.
At the same time, provincial authorities also requested the units to maintain strict control over public health conditions and proactively prevent diseases affecting humans, livestock and crops. Cultural and social affairs must also be managed and effectively as they cover a wide range of areas and directly impact people’s daily lives.

In particular, provincial departments and localities were instructed to maintain smooth communication with the provincial administration and promptly report emerging issues or difficulties so that the chairman and vice chairpersons of the Provincial People’s Committee can issue timely directives.
In the immediate future, the province will prioritize preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, ensuring absolute safety before, during and after election day.
