In recent years, modern retail channels such as shopping malls, supermarkets, and convenience store chains have expanded rapidly across Dong Nai province. As a result, the retail landscape has become increasingly diversified, broadening modern shopping options for residents, particularly in urban centers and densely populated areas.

Diversifying retail networks
According to the Dong Nai Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT), the province currently has nine shopping malls and 20 supermarkets. In addition, convenience store chains under well-known brands such as Bach Hoa Xanh, WinMart, Co.opFood, GS25, FamilyMart, Circle K, Maxidi, and Fresh Shop have expanded rapidly, with a total of 374 outlets widely distributed across the province, effectively meeting residents’ shopping needs.
The growing scale and variety of retail networks in Dong Nai have provided consumers with more choices while keeping pace with modern consumption trends and delivering greater convenience.
Nguyen Quoc Anh, Retail Manager of Fresh Shop in Dong Nai, said that 15 Fresh Shop outlets are currently operating stably in the province. He stressed that the chain’s expansion strategy is not solely aimed at boosting sales but also at providing residents with safe products at stabilized and competitive prices. Looking ahead, Fresh Shop plans to intensify its brand promotion across media platforms to better reach consumers and strengthen its market presence.
At the Conference to deploy tasks for the Dong Nai industry and trade sector held in late January 2026, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai People’s Committee Nguyen Kim Long underscored that the sector must focus on several key priorities this year. These include accelerating the development of commercial, service, and logistics infrastructure, ensuring energy security, and promoting a transition toward green energy.
“Especially during peak holiday and Tet periods, we are committed to ensuring abundant supply and maintaining price stabilization policies. Fresh Shop’s goal is to build trust so that customers feel secure when shopping, thereby becoming ambassadors who introduce clean products to their families and relatives,” Quoc Anh noted.
Vo Thanh Lan, Director of Co.opmart Dong Phu in Dong Phu commune, said that digital payments transformation has been identified as one of the key pillars of the supermarket’s sustainable development strategy. Accordingly, Co.opmart Dong Phu will continue to roll out a coordinated set of core solutions to increase the share of cashless payments.
In addition, Saigon Co.op has fully integrated the Co.op Online shopping platform, offering digital payment options that allow customers to place orders quickly, pay flexibly via e-wallets or cards, and receive home delivery within 2 hours. Thanks to this integration, Co.opmart Dong Phu not only meets the “shop anytime, anywhere” trend but also helps advance Saigon Co.op’s goal of building an omni-channel retail ecosystem in the digital era.
Promoting smart consumption trends
Dong Nai’s modern retail system has made significant strides, shaping a dynamic urban landscape. Consumers can easily access a diverse network of stores, from enormous supermarkets and shopping malls to densely distributed convenience chains such as Circle K, GS25, FamilyMart, WinMart, and Fresh Shop, catering to needs ranging from essential goods to higher-end products.
Notably, the development of 24/7 store models has brought maximum convenience, serving a wide range of customers, from young people to shift workers. This diversity in market segmentation and round-the-clock availability has helped optimize daily living experiences, affirming the retail sector’s role in improving local living standards.
Do Tan Sang, a resident of Tran Bien ward, said he has clearly observed the strong growth of Dong Nai’s modern retail system. Enormous supermarkets, shopping centers, and convenience stores are now readily available in residential neighborhoods.
“The presence of 24/7 store models is a major plus, meeting the timely needs of busy individuals and young people with dynamic lifestyles. Product categories are diverse, and price segments vary widely, making them accessible to students and working professionals alike. It can be said that the current retail network has done a good job of maximizing convenience for urban life,” Sang commented.
In the context of rapid modernization, consumers increasingly expect businesses to undergo more substantial transformations by building green and sustainable retail ecosystems. Retail chains, therefore, are not only expected to supply goods but also to demonstrate responsibility through reputable “green tick” labels that verify product origins and environmentally friendly operating processes, thereby restoring and reinforcing customer trust.
Ngoc Duyen, a resident of Ho Nai ward, expressed concern that recently authorities have uncovered numerous cases of products of unclear origin, as well as counterfeit and substandard goods, appearing on e-commerce platforms and in the marketplace. Consequently, building a civilized digital environment with transparent information and fair pricing is essential to ensure buyer confidence.
“A truly modern retail model must harmoniously combine social responsibility, transparent digital technology, and dedicated customer service. As far as I know, Ho Chi Minh City has launched the ‘Green tick of responsibility' program to promote transparency in supply chains and consumption. If such a program were implemented in the commercial and service sector, particularly in Dong Nai’s retail industry, I believe it would be highly practical,” Duyen said.
