According to the Southern Expressway Project Management Board (under the Vietnam Expressway Corporation VEC), currently, the construction value of package J3-1, Phuoc Khanh Bridge on the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, has completed over 95% of the contracted workload.

It is expected that Phuoc Khanh Bridge will have its main span connected in May 2026. To ensure the progress of the package, during the 2026 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, the contractor maintained a workforce of over 100 engineers and workers working throughout the holiday.

Phuoc Khanh Bridge, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai, has a total length of over 3.1km, a cross-section of nearly 22m, with the main span being 300m long. Phuoc Khanh Bridge and Binh Khanh Bridge (already completed) are the two most complex components of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway Project. Both bridges have a navigational  clearance of 55m, which is the highest clearance among existing bridges in Vietnam to date.

The construction of Phuoc Khanh Bridge was previously part of package J3 of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway Project. However, many difficulties arose during the implementation process, and the contractor consortium stopped construction before the package was completed. VEC then terminated the contract for package J3 and established package J3-1 as a replacement. Package J3-1 is expected to be completed in July 2026, making it one of the last packages to be completed for the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway Project.

The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway stretches nearly 58km. Its starting point connects to the Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Expressway, while its end point intersects National Highway 51, which connects to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, passing through the provinces of Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City. This expressway has a scale of 4 motor vehicle lanes, 2 emergency stop lanes, and a design speed of 100km/h. Once completed, the route will connect important axes such as the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, and Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to reducing traffic pressure for Ho Chi Minh City, shortening travel time between the Southeast and the Mekong Delta, while opening a direct connection axis to Long Thanh International Airport. Currently, 55 of the project’s total 57.8km have been completed, with 30km already open to traffic.
