According to the draft report of the master plan for Trang Bom urban area, Dong Nai province, by 2045, the consulting unit has proposed dividing Trang Bom into five sub-zones.

Specifically, Sub-zone 1, the central sub-zone, covers the administrative boundary of Trang Bom commune and is oriented as a multi-functional integrated urban area. Sub-zone 2, the western sub-zone, covers the administrative boundary of Binh Minh commune and part of Ho Nai ward, and is planned as a commercial urban area with supporting services. Sub-zone 3, the southern sub-zone, encompasses the administrative boundary of An Vien commune and is oriented as a commercial, service, tourism, industrial, and transshipment urban area. Sub-zone 4, the eastern sub-zone, includes the administrative boundary of Hung Thinh commune and is planned as a commercial and service urban area combined with high-tech urban agriculture. Sub-zone 5, the northern sub-zone, covers the administrative boundary of Bau Ham commune and is oriented toward urban development for tourism, services, resorts, ecological agriculture, and landscape protection.
The Trang Bom urban area is being studied and planned, covering more than 327 km² and encompassing the entire administrative boundaries of Trang Bom, Binh Minh, Bau Ham, Hung Thinh, and An Vien communes, as well as part of Ho Nai ward in Dong Nai province.
Regarding population scale, it is projected that by 2030, the total population of the entire urban area will reach approximately 450 thousand people, with around 400 thousand residing in the concentrated urbanized area and about 50 thousand in suburban areas. By 2045, the total urban population is expected to be about 550 thousand people, including approximately 490 thousand in the concentrated urbanized area and 60 thousand in suburban areas.
In terms of urban characteristics, the Trang Bom urban area is planned as an urban unit under Dong Nai province, serving as one of the key urban centers in the eastern dynamic zone of Dong Nai province and the Ho Chi Minh City urban region. It is positioned as a driving force for socio-economic development.
Trang Bom urban area is a concentrated multi-sector industrial hub, an eastern logistics and warehousing center, and a regional center for entertainment, sports, and ecological tourism associated with the Tri An lake water source protection area. At the same time, it is a road and railway transport hub with high cargo circulation capacity and convenient connectivity between the Southeast region and the South Central Coast and Central Highlands.
