ACV appointed as investor for Phase 2 of Long Thanh Airport Project

On January 14, according to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the Ministry of Construction had issued a decision appointing ACV as the investor for Phase 2 of the Long Thanh International Airport Project.

Under the decision, ACV is assigned as the investor for Phase 2 of the Long Thanh Airport Project, except that technical infrastructure facilities ensuring flight operations will be invested by the Viet Nam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM).

ACV is responsible for preparing the feasibility study report for Phase 2 of Long Thanh Airport, including consideration of phased investment in construction to meet operational demand. The corporation is required to fully arrange capital sources to implement investment in Phase 2 components, ensuring quality, required progress and investment efficiency, while preserving and developing state capital at the enterprise. At the same time, ACV will closely coordinate with VATM during the preparation and implementation of investment items under Phase 2 of the project.

Long Thanh Airport is planned with a capacity of 100 million passengers and 25 million tonnes of cargo per year, with total investment exceeding 16 billion USD. The project is divided into three investment phases.

According to the decision approving the investment project for Phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport in 2020, the project is divided into four component sub-projects. ACV was assigned as the investor for Component Project 3, covering essential airport facilities. In Phase 1, the project includes the construction of one runway, one passenger terminal and synchronized auxiliary facilities, with a designed capacity of 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tonnes of cargo per year.

In late March 2025, the Prime Minister approved an adjustment to the Phase 1 Long Thanh Airport Project, including the addition of one more runway to be built during Phase 1.

On December 19, 2025, ACV held an inauguration ceremony for facilities and launched the first flight at Long Thanh Airport. According to the plan, Phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport is scheduled to complete construction and be put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026.
