Following the merger, Cam My commune, strategically located near Long Thanh International Airport, is expected to experience a breakthrough in economic restructuring and development. The locality will continue to leverage its strengths in high-tech agriculture and deep processing, combined with industry and logistics trade services, to become a connectivity hub, generate employment, and enhance local economic value. According to the provincial plan, Cam My commune will develop industrial parks, industrial clusters, satellite urban areas, and trade service centers in a synchronized manner, aligned with green, sustainable agricultural development, technological application, and value chain linkages.

Building specialized export cultivation areas

According to the report of the Cam My Commune People's Committee, the commune’s agricultural land is primarily devoted to perennial crops, featuring a wide range of high-value varieties, including durian, avocado, and others. The locality also has strengths in livestock farming. A notable example is the model of raising capon chickens, which delivers high economic efficiency and is being replicated by the commune in conjunction with building a linkage chain.

Collective economic models in the commune have been strengthened and continue to develop. The commune currently has nine cooperatives that have been basically reorganized and operate in accordance with the Law on Cooperatives. In addition, 30 cooperative groups are operating with increasing effectiveness, particularly those focusing on pepper, durian, and goat farming.

Cam My commune features diverse terrain and a fresh environment, well-suited for leveraging its tourism potential in association with its agricultural strengths. The commune's development orientation is to promote high-tech agriculture and clean agriculture in tandem with garden tourism and ecological tourism.

The entire commune has established six concentrated production areas, nine production and consumption linkage chains associated with export-growing area codes and OCOP products, and six growing area codes linked to product traceability for both domestic and export markets. Among these, cashew trees, which cover a large area of approximately 600 hectares, are a key crop that generates stable and high economic value when processed deeply. Within the commune, cooperatives and cashew cooperative groups have been formed in connection with building linkage chains involving enterprises and processing facilities that commit to purchasing output.

Nguyen Quang Huy, Director of Hoang Linh Linh One Member Limited Company (Cam My commune), stated: In addition to self-processing, the enterprise also partners with local facilities and enterprises to purchase cashew kernels for export to various markets, including China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Cambodia, and others. To enhance competitiveness, the enterprise has invested significant capital to upgrade its machinery system toward automation, applying high technology throughout the processing stages to both reduce production costs and improve product quality. Its roasted salted cashew product has achieved a 4-star OCOP (One Commune, One Product) rating. The enterprise places a strong emphasis on brand building for its deeply processed products, which have a reputation for quality, aiming to compete effectively in both domestic and export markets.

Attracting investment in processing

In addition to strong agricultural development, Cam My commune has also seen fairly comprehensive growth across industry, trade, and services. The commune’s industrial production value increases steadily each year. Commercial and service activities effectively meet production needs and support local livelihoods.

Specifically, the commune offers a diverse range of rural services, including markets, green groceries, transportation services, agricultural supply services, postal and telecommunications services, cultural services, education, and healthcare. Total annual retail sales of goods continue to rise. Notably, the commune is home to 759 various types of production and business establishments. All operate stably, facilitating convenient exchange, transactions, and trade for residents, thereby contributing to increased income.

Nguyen Dai Thang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Cam My Commune People's Committee, commented: "At present, many farmers still adhere to a fragmented, small-scale production mindset." Therefore, the locality places strong emphasis on organizing training programs to raise farmers' awareness of safe, large-scale commercial production. The commune continues to develop linkage chains associated with brand building, the establishment of export cultivation codes, and products certified under VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and OCOP. The development orientation focuses on clean production, transitioning to large-scale commodity production that meets both quantity and quality standards to serve domestic and export markets. This approach aims to continuously improve farmers' income in line with sustainable agricultural development.

According to Nguyen Dai Thang, Cam My commune and Xuan Que commune have been zoned by the Provincial People's Committee for new urban development in conjunction with industrial development. The commune aims to strongly promote trade and services to support industrial clusters and parks in the surrounding areas, especially Long Thanh International Airport, once it becomes operational. Notably, the Long Giao Industrial Cluster, which focuses on attracting investment in agricultural product processing, is expected to be auctioned in the second quarter of 2026.

To support market connectivity for agricultural products, the commune has engaged a consulting unit to develop a program and plan for building its own e-commerce platform, in line with the implementation of Resolution No. 57 on digital transformation. The goal is for all farmers in the commune to participate in this platform, thereby gaining more opportunities to expand their distribution channels for agricultural products, increase product value, and create stable market outlets for farmers.
