Expanding training initiatives
In recent years, the Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology has implemented numerous programs, conferences, and training courses on quality management and measurement standards. These include the 2025 Product and Goods Traceability Training Conference for officials from provincial departments, commune and ward authorities, businesses, cooperatives, and OCOP (One Commune, One Product) entities; as well as a conference guiding the establishment and maintenance of productivity and quality clubs at local colleges.
Ngo Thanh Long, representative of Anna Dragon Fruit Wine Production Facility in Dau Giay Commune, Dong Nai Province, said the facility is focusing on developing OCOP-certified product lines. Participation in training programs centered on modern production models, quality standards, intellectual property, and e-commerce helps improve brand development and enhance product quality in a rapidly integrating market.
The traceability training sessions for products and goods, organized recently by the Department of Science and Technology, focused on guiding participants through the process of connecting to the National Product and Goods Traceability Portal; building and implementing traceability systems in accordance with regulations; and applying technological solutions that support the development and operation of these systems.
“We hope provincial departments, sectors, and local authorities will continue to expand programs that support businesses and OCOP producers in participating in training sessions on branding, quality standards, and integration-related knowledge. These programs should focus on topics aligned with current integration trends and technological applications for enterprises. When necessary, training can be connected and implemented under a socialized model, with specialized and detailed content tailored to specific product groups, thereby increasing the effectiveness of support for local businesses and production facilities,” Ngo Thanh Long added.
Additionally, training courses have been offered to commune- and ward-level officials and civil servants across the province on standards, measurement, and quality management in accordance with the two-tier decentralization of state management authority defined by the Ministry of Science and Technology; another program provides advanced training on quality measurement and management in the jewelry and ornamental gold trading sector.
Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Trinh Thi Hoa, stated that the training sessions are intended to help grassroots-level officials fully understand legal regulations, properly carry out their assigned functions and duties, and enhance their professional capacity in state management of measurement, product, and goods quality. She emphasized that these activities are both significant and essential, primarily as the Government has clearly defined the authority of the two-tier local administration system in the field of standards, measurement, and quality.
Traceability in the digital era
Sustainable development is not only an inevitable trend of the era but also a central orientation in the country's socio-economic development strategy, as well as in Dong Nai Province's particular strategy.

In today’s era of scientific and technological advancement, traceability is not merely a technical tool to ensure product information transparency. However, it is a mandatory requirement to guarantee quality, safety, accountability, and consumer trust. It is also one of the core mandates of the Ministry of Science and Technology, contributing to the advancement of digital transformation in the areas of standards, measurement, and quality, while supporting businesses in enhancing productivity, product quality, and competitiveness.
Nguyen The Tung, General Director of Queen Farm (located in Phuoc Son Commune, Dong Nai Province), shared that the company is focusing on aligning its agricultural operations with ESG (environmental, social, governance) principles and systematizing technology across its production farms. These efforts include managing the quality of input water sources and implementing innovative irrigation systems, utilizing IoT sensors to measure nutrient levels in the soil, identifying and managing crop records with new technologies, and applying modern, environmentally friendly, and sustainable production processes.
Trinh Thi Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, noted that in recent times, Dong Nai has proactively carried out a variety of initiatives to develop its traceability system. These efforts support businesses and OCOP entities in establishing identification codes and connecting to the National Product and Goods Traceability Portal. Organizing training sessions on traceability for local products and goods plays a crucial role in helping management officials, businesses, and related organizations and individuals raise awareness, update their knowledge, stay informed about new legal regulations, and effectively implement traceability systems in practice.
