Dong Nai Province has recently held a working session with Vietnamese investment promotion representatives from the country’s diplomatic missions in nine countries and territories around the world.

The meeting served as an opportunity for Dong Nai to promote investment, introduce its strengths and potential through the connections of Vietnamese investment promotion representatives based in countries including France, the United States, Singapore, Germany, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Taiwan (China), Laos, Cambodia, and Japan.

Attractiveness from Long Thanh International Airport

According to Vietnamese investment promotion representatives abroad, Dong Nai has become an appealing destination for foreign investors thanks to the strong pull of Long Thanh International Airport, along with synchronized transport infrastructure linking the province to surrounding regions.

Le Thi Hai Van, Investment Promotion Representative in Washington D.C., USA, stated that Long Thanh Airport is one of the key factors of interest to the U.S. enterprises, and once operational, it will become a major magnet driving investment into Dong Nai. She added that the sectors currently drawing attention from the U.S. investors are also well aligned with Dong Nai’s development goals, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), high-tech manufacturing, medical equipment, and logistics. Global express delivery firms such as FedEx Express and DHL are also closely monitoring the airport’s progress and plan to set up warehouse facilities nearby. They have also expressed interest in working with customs authorities to obtain necessary licenses in preparation for the airport's operation.

Van further noted that the U.S. companies currently operating in Dong Nai have acknowledged local government’s strong support in resolving challenges during their investment and production. This, she emphasized, is a key advantage of Dong Nai’s investment environment, where authorities are seen as trusted partners standing side by side with enterprises.

Based on actual demand and assessments from enterprises, investment promotion representatives from Japan requested the provincial government to provide a list of investment categories for the 2026–2030 period to introduce to potential investors. Every year, the Vietnamese Embassy in the U.S. engages with the American companies in each sector. If investment promotion materials from Dong Nai are available, the Embassy introduces them during the gatherings to attract investment to the province.

The RoK is a long-standing investor in Dong Nai. However, according to Pham Viet Tuan, Vietnam’s Investment Promotion Representative in the RoK, it has recently shown signs of slowing investment momentum, with a limited number of new and capital expansion projects. However, he noted that the RoK businesses are highly familiar with Dong Nai when researching Vietnam’s investment environment. In particular, many have recently expressed interest in investment opportunities around Long Thanh Airport, including air-freight exports. Tuan affirmed his readiness to serve as a bridge between the RoK enterprises and Dong Nai province.

“Dong Nai possesses competitive advantages in aviation, seaports, road, rail and waterway transport. Along with the expanded space for the development of industrial park infrastructure, the province has clearly planned its human resources and addressed institutional and infrastructure bottlenecks. In the near future, the province is poised to become an attractive destination for investors. This presents an opportunity for Dong Nai to achieve strong breakthroughs in socio-economic growth.”

Proactive investment expansion needed

Some investment promotion representatives in countries and territories worldwide noted that despite Dong Nai’s investment promotion activities abroad in recent times, many potential markets remain untapped. Therefore, in the coming period, Dong Nai needs to strengthen its investment promotion efforts.

Le Quang Tuan, the Investment Promotion Representative in Taiwan (China), said that although Taiwan (China) has long been a traditional investment partner of Dong Nai, the province’s promotion activities in Taiwan have not met expectations. Currently, only Minh Hung – Sikico Industrial Park (Tan Khai Commune) and Tin Nghia Investment Corporation (Tran Bien Ward) have established notable Taiwanese investment cooperation. Le Quang Tuan recommended that Dong Nai place greater emphasis on promoting investment in Taiwan. “Taiwan is rolling out a semiconductor workforce training program through 2030. If Dong Nai needs human resources training in this sector, the province can explore cooperation with Taiwan,” Tuan suggested.

Speaking on Dong Nai’s potential and advantages, Vu Van Chung, Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Finance, stated that Dong Nai is one of the country’s major economic hubs with significant potential and advantages. He emphasized that the Ministry of Finance is working with Vietnamese ambassadors and consulates abroad to build a database on localities with strong investment attraction potential for presentation and promotion in other countries and territories. He noted that insights gathered from provincial leadership, along with investment documents provided by Dong Nai, will be key resources for investment promotion representatives abroad when engaging with potential investors.
