Consumer and shopping demand surges during National Day holiday

During the National Day (September 2) holiday, the number of visitors to shopping centers and supermarkets in Dong Nai rose sharply compared to regular weekends, increasing by about 6–10% compared to the same period in 2024.

On this occasion, the Co.opmart supermarket chain in Dong Nai, including Co.opmart Bien Hoa, Co.opmart Dong Xoai, and Co.opmart Dong Phu, launched a consumer stimulus program called "Proud of Vietnamese Supermarkets". The program offered discounts of up to 50% on high-quality Vietnamese products across five categories: household goods, cosmetics and cleaning products, apparel, processed foods, and fresh foods, aiming to attract consumers.

Do Doan Thanh, Head of Marketing at Co.opmart Dong Xoai (Binh Phuoc Ward), said: "During the past 4-day holiday, the number of shoppers increased by about 40% compared to regular weekends and by 6% year-on-year. On average, the supermarket welcomed around 3,000-3,200 customers per day during the holiday."

Le Duc Thuan, Director of Lotte Mart Dong Nai (Long Binh Ward), shared: "This September 2 holiday, we launched many large promotional programs to stimulate demand for Vietnamese products with a wide range of items. The number of shoppers increased by about 70% compared to regular weekends and by around 50% year-on-year. On average, the supermarket welcomed around 5,000 shoppers each holiday day."

Similarly, Le Van Hong, Director of Go! Dong Nai Supermarket in Long Hung Ward said: The National Day holiday this year lasted several days and coincided with the weekend, driving a sharp rise in shopping demand. Customer traffic at the supermarket doubled compared to a regular weekend and increased by around 10 percent year-on-year.

Alongside retail activity, many trade and consumer service sectors also reported a surge in visitors for sightseeing, recreation, and entertainment. Notably, during this year's September 2 holiday, the banking sector in Dong Nai took proactive measures to maintain banking operations throughout the break, working closely with the State Treasury to ensure timely cash distribution to local authorities, particularly in mountainous, rural, and remote areas, for the delivery of the Government's Independence Day gifts to the people.

According to Agribank's Dong Nai branch, during the recent holiday, its affiliated branches arranged staff to work through the break to proactively coordinate with local communes and wards, assisting residents in opening bank accounts, installing VNeID, and ensuring adequate cash supply in appropriate denominations to the State Treasury for the timely distribution of the Government's Independence Day gifts to citizens on the September 2 National Day.
