On August 30, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) announced that, in line with the Prime Minister’s directive, construction on phase 1 of the Long Thanh International Airport project would continue through the National Day (September 2) holiday. Nearly 14,000 experts, engineers, and workers have been mobilized to work around the clock, in “three shifts, four crews,” “braving the sun, overcoming the rain, and withstanding storms,” and “working through holidays, Tet, and weekends.”

In addition, to support the construction packages, contractor joint ventures have mobilized around 3,000 pieces of equipment and organized hundreds of work teams at the site.

Component Project 3, construction of essential airport facilities, currently has 11 packages being implemented simultaneously. Notably, for package 5.10 (construction and installation of equipment for the passenger terminal, the most important item of phase 1), the contractor joint venture has mobilized nearly 6,000 personnel and pieces of equipment, maintaining continuous operations throughout the National Day (September 2) holiday.

So far, the passenger terminal has completed the reinforced concrete structure for the basement and four floors, basically finished steel frame installation, glass wall framing, and rough construction, while moving on to interior works such as flooring, ceilings, and tiling.

Systems and equipment for terminal operations, such as the baggage handling system (BHS), visual docking guidance system (VDGS), escalators, and moving walkways (ES/MW), have also been delivered to the site by the contractor and are now being installed.

For other major construction packages of the project, including internal roads and technical infrastructure, the fueling system, connecting roads, aircraft aprons, the second runway, and the cargo terminal, contractor joint ventures have mobilized thousands of workers and pieces of equipment to accelerate progress. The goal set by the investor and contractors is to basically complete the project by December 19, 2025, and put it into commercial operation in the first half of 2026, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s directive.

According to ACV, workers on duty during the holiday are paid in accordance with state regulations. The investor has also deployed full-time supervisory teams to ensure construction safety and quality.
