To meet stringent market standards while seizing the sustainable business trend, many enterprises in Dong Nai have implemented green transformation in production.

This approach not only helps enhance competitiveness and expand export markets but also reduce greenhouse gas emissions, moving toward the net zero target.

Enterprises reduce emissions

From factory roofs, production lines, and input materials to output waste, “green” factors have become a survival strategy for many enterprises. They have proactively applied investment and management solutions to meet international market requirements and sustainable development goals.

Ra Yong Zoo, representative of HI KNIT Company Limited in Phuoc An commune, Dong Nai province said that in the garment textile sector, sustainable production and the use of renewable energy are mandatory to retain orders from foreign partners. Therefore, the company has invested in a solar power system on the factory roof, both meeting customer requirements, and reducing electricity costs, thereby lowering product prices, and contributing to implementing Vietnam’s commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050.

“By combining solar and grid electricity, the factory significantly saves operating costs, maintains orders even during difficult periods, generates hundreds of billions of VND in revenue each year, ensures employment for thousands of workers, and contributes substantially to the state budget,” Zoo shared. He emphasized that without using renewable energy, the enterprise could lose contracts or even have to halt production, causing multiple consequences for workers and the province’s investment environment.

Also aiming for green production, Saitex International Dong Nai Company Limited in Long Binh ward, Dong Nai province not only uses renewable energy but also selects environmentally friendly materials and recycles most production waste.

Nguyen Ngoc Kim Oanh, Head of Department of Occupational Safety and Health and Sustainable Development at the company, stated that both fibers and dyes are environmentally friendly. The company nearly fully recycles wastewater, repurposes fabric scraps into useful products, and utilizes factory heat to dry garments.

Many major investors, including Nestle, SMC, Lixil, C.P., Schaeffler, Ajinomoto, and Cargill, have simultaneously developed renewable energy, upgraded technology, recycled waste, and improved packaging to minimize hard-to-recycle materials, replacing them with biodegradable or recyclable products; they also have supportive policies for packaging recycling. These solutions meet partner requirements, enhance brand reputation, creating a competitive edge in the global supply chain.

Contributing to realizing net zero target

Dong Nai aims for net zero by 2050, with industrial production being one of seven key emission reduction sectors. To achieve this, the province has issued the 2022-2030 action plan on sustainable production and consumption. The province has annually organized training to help enterprises use energy efficiently; encouraged technological innovation to reduce pollution; and established a Green Growth Steering Committee to research, propose solutions, and appraise relevant projects.

As a result, more enterprises are investing in renewable energy and technology to save electricity costs, reduce emissions, recycle waste, and use environmentally friendly materials. In the enterprises that have implemented these measures, renewable energy helps cut CO2 emissions, stabilize production costs; manage circular waste to ease environmental pressure, while also enhancing brand value and expanding market access. Green transformation and economic growth go hand in hand.

Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of Dong Nai People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang said that besides enterprise efforts, the province implements policies supporting renewable energy projects, promoting circular economy and industrial symbiosis, and piloting green, ecological industrial parks. These are important drivers for enterprises to accelerate green transformation. Newly developed industrial parks must meet environmental protection and greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee Ho Van Ha, during a meeting with enterprises relocating to convert the function of Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park, noted that Dong Nai has applied selective investment attraction for many years. Priority is given to high-tech, less labour-intensive, environmentally friendly projects to ensure sustainable growth. The province especially encourages enterprises to apply advanced science and technology, creating high added value, enhancing productivity and competitiveness. Conversely, scattered projects in old industrial areas must be relocated to suitable planned locations. This reduces environmental and urban pressures and gradually forms a modern green industrial ecosystem aligned with the net zero goal, attracting high-quality capital from both domestic and foreign investors.

With cooperation between authorities and enterprises, Dong Nai is gradually forming a green production ecosystem, protecting the environment while promoting sustainable growth, realizing the net zero target by 2050, and becoming an attractive destination for investors.

According to report from the provincial People’s Committee, as of the end of July 2025, Dong Nai had 2,462 valid domestic investment projects with registered capital of nearly VND 535 trillion; 2,199 valid FDI projects with capital of USD 41.6 billion, making it one of the best-performing provinces nationwide in investment attraction.
