In February 2024, the provincial People’s Committee approved a carbon reduction roadmap through 2030, with a vision to 2050, integrated into the provincial master plan. The province is fostering green practices across industries, agriculture, construction, logistics, real estate, and consumer behavior. Enterprises such as Nestlé, C.P. Vietnam, UPM, and Schaeffler are setting benchmarks by adopting modern technologies, green production models, and circular processes. Notably, Nestlé’s Trị An factory, based in the Amata Industrial Park, is now the company’s most advanced globally, following a recent $100 million investment that brought its total investment in Dong Nai to over $500 million.
In agriculture, thousands of hectares are being cultivated organically to reduce emissions and improve food safety. Local authorities are also encouraging green consumer behavior, prioritizing recycled, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly products.
Dong Nai is one of five provinces selected by the Ministry of Planning and Investment to pilot eco-industrial zones, with Amata Industrial Park leading the initiative. The goal is to scale these models across the province and nationwide.
According to Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Tan Duc, all departments and districts are required to formulate green production and consumption plans aligned with emission reduction targets. This transition is crucial as global brands increasingly demand green compliance from suppliers, putting pressure on exporters to meet sustainability criteria.
The push toward green production not only enhances competitiveness but also opens up high-value export opportunities—especially in agriculture, where Dong Nai supplies over 1 million tons of produce annually. Accessing premium international markets requires adherence to low-emission and environmentally friendly practices, making the shift to a green economy a strategic necessity for long-term growth.
