Before the merger, Dong Nai led the nation in rural development, with 114 out of 116 communes meeting advanced standards and 43 recognized as model communes. Infrastructure such as roads, schools, healthcare, and cultural facilities was comprehensively upgraded, with 100% of communes having nationally certified health stations and 94% of residents covered by health insurance.
Binh Phuoc also saw major rural upgrades, investing nearly VND 4.3 trillion in NRDP and constructing over 9,100 km of roads. Residents actively contributed land for public infrastructure projects.
The new Dong Nai province plans to focus on boosting agricultural production, increasing rural incomes, and embracing digital transformation, high-tech farming, product traceability, and e-commerce.
At the national NRDP review conference (2021–2025), Chairwoman of the Dong Nai People’s Council Ton Ngoc Hanh highlighted the program’s impact in transforming rural areas and improving livelihoods. She affirmed the province is well-positioned to accelerate modern rural development in the coming years.
