Dong Nai businesses adapt to global trade tensions

(ĐN)- As a major industrial hub, Dong Nai exports over 70% of its industrial output to more than 180 countries. However, rising global trade tensions, especially the U.S. imposing tariffs of up to 50% on goods like aluminum and steel, are raising concerns among local exporters.

With the U.S. being Dong Nai’s largest export market (over 32% of total export value), businesses are racing to ship pending orders before a 90-day tariff exemption expires, while also seeking new markets. Still, shifting to other markets quickly proves challenging due to varying technical barriers.

Meanwhile, Chinese goods diverted from the U.S. are intensifying competition in Vietnam’s domestic market. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is stepping up trade promotion efforts abroad, encouraging businesses to diversify export destinations and take advantage of existing free trade agreements to mitigate risks and boost competitiveness.
