Dong Nai aims to develop eco-industrial clusters

09:35, 03/06/2025

(ĐN)- Dong Nai currently has 31 planned industrial clusters (ICs), with 16 established and 12 operational. However, only four clusters have completed infrastructure, and just five have centralized wastewater treatment systems that meet standards. The lack of synchronized technical and environmental infrastructure remains a major obstacle to sustainable development and investment attraction.

Most businesses in Dong Nai are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which makes ICs a more suitable model compared to large-scale industrial parks. However, only 135 out of 192 secondary projects in ICs are operational, despite the growing demand for production space, particularly from members of the Dong Nai Young Entrepreneurs Association.

To address these issues, the province is shifting its focus toward building eco-industrial clusters. These clusters will emphasize sustainable growth, energy efficiency, and environmental protection. The provincial government has tasked the Department of Industry and Trade with piloting three eco-ICs including Quang Trung and Quang Trung 2 in Thong Nhat district, and Hang Gon in Long Khanh city. These projects will prioritize clean, low-emission industries and encourage industrial symbiosis.

The Quang Trung IC is expected to begin construction in August 2025 and complete infrastructure by June 2026. Designed as a green project, it will incorporate rooftop solar panels, wastewater recycling systems, and initiatives to reuse industrial waste across tenants.

The push toward eco-industrial clusters marks a strategic move by Dong Nai to support SMEs while aligning with long-term goals for green and sustainable industrial development.
