Dong Nai- attractive investment destination for Japanese investors

(ĐN) – On May 13, Vice Chairman Duong Minh Dung of Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee hosted a working session with Chairman Kume Kunihide of the Japan Business Association in HCM city.

During the meeting, Mr. Kume Kunihide noted that Japan currently has 142 enterprises operating in Dong Nai. Japanese investors see strong potential in Dong Nai, thanks to its strategic location and large scale infrastructure development projects. The province is expected to attract more Japanese and foreign direct investment (FDI) in the coming time, particularly in sectors such as services, urban development, and logistics.

At the session, Vice Chairman Duong Minh Dung provided an overview of Dong Nai’s socio-economic landscape and investment policies. He said the province has established 37 industrial zones (IZs) covering over 13,000 hectares, 31 of which are operational, five newly established, and one under construction. Dong Nai has attracted investment from 48 countries and territories, totaling more than 1,700 projects and over US$36 billion in registered capital.

Japan currently ranks second in number of projects and third in total FDI in Dong Nai, with 285 projects and nearly US$6 billion in registered capital. Japanese enterprises have made significant contributions to the province’s socio-economic growth, job creation, and development of key industries, especially supporting industries.

Dong Nai has also established the “Kansai Desk”, now known as the Japan Desk, dedicated to addressing any investment issues and queries from Japanese businesses.

In addition, the province regularly hosts business dialogue conferences and promotes trade and investment activities in Japan to enhance information sharing and address investors' concerns.

Alongside economic cooperation, people-to-people diplomacy between Dong Nai and Japan has also seen increasing engagement.

Through this meeting, Dong Nai hopes the Japan Business Association in HCM city will gain deeper insights into the province, paving the way for new opportunities for cooperation and development with Japanese partners.
