In the first 4 months of 2025, Viet Nam's coffee exports reached US$3.78 billion, up 51.1% year-on-year, making it the fastest-growing agricultural export. Dong Nai alone contributed nearly US$655 million, a 60.6% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Vietnamese coffee is now exported to over 80 countries, with Europe, Asia, and the United States being the key markets. However, the industry is facing growing challenges, including strict environmental and origin regulations from the EU, U.S. trade tariffs, and ongoing global trade tensions.
To navigate these challenges, coffee producers are investing in sustainable practices, reducing emissions, and complying with international standards. Meanwhile, major coffee organizations such as the National Coffee Association (NCA) and the International Coffee Organization (ICO) have urged the U.S. government to exempt coffee from import tariffs, arguing that coffee is not part of unfair trade and lacks domestic alternatives in the U.S. Such advocacy aims to safeguard consumers and maintain the stability of the global coffee supply chain.
