Dual benefits on economy and environment
ICD Tan Cang - Long Binh JSC in Bien Hoa city has adopted multiple green solutions, such as converting diesel forklifts to electric, installing rooftop solar panels, and replacing traditional lights with LEDs. These measures help the company save over 177,000 kWh of electricity annually—more than 2% of its total consumption—while retaining long-term clients and attracting new ones. The firm plans to further expand its rooftop solar system and improve energy efficiency in cold storage operations.
Similarly, Saitex International Dong Nai Co., Ltd., a major textile exporter with five factories in the province, has embraced solar power, biomass fuel, and heat recovery to minimize its environmental impact. The company saves hundreds of millions of VND in monthly electricity costs while meeting the strict sustainability standards of over 20 export markets.
Green energy not only enhances competitiveness but also ensures long-term market access. However, high upfront investment and complex procedures for solar power installation remain challenges.
EVN (Vietnam Electricity) leaders noted that Dong Nai's energy-saving efforts have helped prevent power shortages during peak seasons. Promoting renewable energy and managing demand during peak hours are crucial to ensuring national energy security.
National Assembly members urged businesses to expand these practices in light of increasing climate risks and stricter sustainability requirements from international partners.
Dong Nai aims to cut at least 2.1% of its total electricity consumption in 2025. The province's total energy use is expected to exceed 17 billion kWh, excluding renewable sources.
