(ĐN)- Dong Nai’s Thong Nhat and Dinh Quan districts have recently been recognized as advanced new-style rural districts in 2024.
All 13 communes in Dinh Quan have met basic new rural standards, and 9 out of them have achieved advanced rural status. The district also boasts four model communes and five exemplary residential areas.
This success is attributed to investment in essential rural infrastructure, including roads, communication systems, electricity, water supply, and waste treatment. Over 70% of priority projects have been completed. Key roadways have been paved, improving connectivity and access.

Thong Nhat district, recognized as a standard new rural district in 2015, has now advanced further. All 9 communes maintain their rural standards, with 7 achieving advanced status and 2 recognized as model communes. Dau Giay town has earned the title of "civilized urban area," and the district reached its advanced status a year ahead of schedule.
Both districts have seen robust production development, with many farmers earning hundreds of millions of dong annually by adopting innovative agricultural practices.
Dinh Quan’s Chairman Tran Nam Bien highlighted policies based on the principle: “people know, people discuss, people do, people monitor, and people benefit.” The district has supported five key farming zones focusing on high-value crops like export-quality bananas, durians, cocoa, and mangoes. With 20 traceable planting area codes, the district's average agricultural output per hectare has reached VND 196.3 million—significantly above the provincial average. Rural residents now earn an average of VND 84.5 million per person annually.
Thong Nhat district, with nearly 88% of its population following religion—mostly Catholic—focused on creative outreach efforts. Authorities worked closely with local communities, promoting crop and livestock restructuring and introducing high-yield, high-quality varieties. The district has developed 23 key farming zones for crops like rambutans, bananas, durians, and pomelos, supported by 24 planting area codes and 4 packing facilities.
Currently, average rural income ranges from VND 87 to 93.2 million per person per year—well above the national target of VND 68 million. The district has also successfully eliminated multi-dimensional poverty.
