(ĐN)- In 2024, Vietnam's footwear export revenue reached approximately $27 billion, an increase of about $3 billion compared to the previous year. Since late 2023, footwear exports have shown a clear recovery. This success is attributed to businesses proactively adapting to maintain traditional markets while expanding into new ones. As a result, the footwear industry sustained a growth rate of over 12%. Vietnam remains the world's second-largest footwear exporter, trailing only China.
Dong Nai is among the top three provinces in Vietnam for footwear exports. In 2024, the province's export revenue for footwear reached nearly $4.6 billion, accounting for over 17% of Vietnam’s total footwear exports. This marks a new record for Dong Nai, making footwear the province’s highest-value export and achieving a trade surplus of over $3 billion. Dong Nai plays a crucial role in Vietnam’s footwear production and exports, with its products reaching nearly 100 countries and territories. The main export markets include the U.S., Europe, Japan, South Korea, and China.
According to local footwear manufacturers, the workforce in Dong Nai is highly skilled, capable of handling complex orders within short timeframes. This has made the province a preferred manufacturing hub for global brands such as Nike, Adidas, Puma, and Reebok, with most factories producing on an outsourcing basis. Looking ahead to 2025, Dong Nai's footwear production and exports are expected to remain favorable, as many factories have already secured orders through the end of the year.
However, industry leaders note that the footwear sector faces a major challenge: transitioning to sustainable production. International brands are increasingly demanding that manufacturers adopt renewable energy, recycled materials, and environmentally friendly sourcing practices. To maintain its position as the world’s second-largest footwear exporter, Vietnamese businesses must integrate technology and embrace digital transformation to ensure sustainable and green production.
