Green linkages to boost exports

(ĐN)- Southeastern provinces and cities play a key role in Vietnam’s foreign trade, contributing significantly to the country’s total export value and expanding to multiple global markets.

To ensure sustainable development, businesses and localities in the region must collaborate to promote green production and green exports, meeting the world’s increasingly strict environmental standards.

Green transformation has become essential for exporters. Companies failing to adopt eco-friendly practices may face barriers in global markets. Shifting to green production helps businesses meet consumer demand for traceable, eco-friendly, and sustainable products.

For instance, Binh Tay Food (HCMC) exports 70–80% of its products. The company has heavily invested in modern, circular-economy-based factories and is building a new plant in Dong Nai with Taiwanese technology, worth over USD 10 million.

The wood industry in Dong Nai is also going green by innovating designs, expanding markets, and upgrading machinery. Local businesses are forming alliances with other wood-producing regions to develop sustainable practices and meet strict international standards.

In agriculture, Vina T&T Group exports fruits to demanding markets like the U.S., where regulations on pesticide residue and food safety are strict. CEO Nguyen Dinh Tung emphasized the need for a unified national brand in agriculture and called for stronger business linkages to enhance competitiveness abroad.

Experts suggest Vietnamese exporters should also aim to join major global retail chains like Aeon, Central Retail, and Lotte to access broader markets and reach consumers directly.
