(ĐN)-The Vietnam Electricity Group said that the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project is currently selecting a contractor for the construction of the main works, which is expected to begin in April 2025.

The project has a total land area of 92 hectares that needs to be recovered, of which 23.5% has been recovered so far. The remaining area is facing issues in the preparation, submission, and approval of compensation, support, and resettlement, which poses a risk to the planned construction commencement.

The investor urges the provincial People's Committee to expedite the compensation and land clearance process to facilitate the project's construction and to soon issue the 2025 land use plan of Vinh Cuu district as a basis for carrying out compensation and land clearance work.

The Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project was approved by the provincial People's Committee for investment policy in 2020 and was adjusted for the second time in 2024. The project is invested by EVN, categorized as a Group A industrial project, with a total investment of over 3.9 trillion VND, including 2 turbines with a capacity of 200MW each.

The project is expected to increase capacity mobilization for the southern region's loads, contributing to improving the operation regime of the power system, especially during peak hours, thereby helping to reduce production costs for the national power system.
