Supporting industries strive to expand their market

Vietnam currently has over 5,000 supporting industry enterprises, regarded as the "backbone" of the national industry by providing components, spare parts, and technical processes. In Dong Nai, the development of supporting industries is also a key focus for local authorities.

Focusing on production and business

Since the beginning of the year, enterprises in the province have been actively focusing on production, business expansion, and securing orders to contribute to the province’s target of achieving a 10% growth rate this year.

After the Lunar New Year holiday, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Director of Tinh Nguyen Hao Co., Ltd. in Bien Hoa city, shared that his company has been in the supporting industry for nearly 15 years, specializing in manufacturing mechanical components, automation machinery, pump casings, and power generator parts for the household sector. Currently, most of the company’s products are supplied to Japanese firms operating in Vietnam, while about 10% of its orders come from Vietnamese and American enterprises.

Nearly a year ago, the company invested in expanding production by establishing a new factory in the Tam Phước Industrial Park to pursue long-term growth objectives. "We expect to make further breakthroughs in the coming years as foreign investment continues to flow into Vietnam and Dong Nai, increasing the demand for supporting industry products like ours," Mr. Hung stated.

Enterprises hope that government policies to support small and medium-sized businesses, particularly in the supporting industry, will be implemented more effectively. They suggest that establishing industry-specific clusters or networks would enhance competitiveness, leverage collective advantages, and foster mutual support among businesses.

Meanwhile, VinaStar Technical Plastic Manufacturing and Trading Co., Ltd. (Bien Hoa city) is currently recruiting 50 production workers for immediate employment to meet customer orders. In addition to production staff, the company is also seeking skilled personnel for product design and business development. VinaStar has developed hundreds of plastic product models for use in electrical appliances, electronics, and household goods. Its products are exported to various countries, with key markets including Japan, South Korea, and the United States.

According to Mr. Mai Khanh, Director of VinaStar, the company is steadily building its brand. To expand its reach, the company prioritizes core values such as quality, workforce development, technological innovation, and customer-oriented approaches.

Further efforts to meet market demands

Supporting industries hold significant potential as Vietnam intensifies efforts to attract manufacturing investments for export. However, domestic enterprises still face challenges in terms of capital, technology, and skilled labor. Experts believe that addressing the shortage of skilled professionals requires a collaborative effort between the government, businesses, and educational institutions.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh, Vice Rector of Lac Hong University, the institution specializes in technical and technological training and is ready to collaborate with businesses in Dong Nai to provide workforce training tailored to industry needs. The university places students in internships at manufacturing plants to ensure businesses have access to skilled labor when hiring.

As competition for talent becomes increasingly fierce, enterprises must not only seek talent immediately but also invest in long-term workforce training and development strategies to secure a sustainable competitive edge. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung emphasized that Tinh Nguyen Hao is actively connecting with educational institutions, training personnel, and participating in standardization programs to meet the increasingly stringent demands of customers. Despite expanding production tenfold since its inception, the company acknowledges that achieving strong market competitiveness remains a long-term goal.

Similarly, Mr. Mai Khanh noted that VinaStar is implementing digital transformation in various processes, including product cost management, order tracking, production planning, progress monitoring, e-signature application, quality control, and equipment management. These solutions will be introduced in 2025 to optimize cost control. At the same time, the company continuously trains its workforce, guiding and enhancing employees' creativity in production. This proactive approach enables the company to sustain growth despite occasional challenges and obstacles.
