As the Lunar New Year holiday ended, hundreds of thousands of workers from various provinces returned to Dong Nai to resume work at local businesses.
For many, their biggest wish for the new year is good health and job stability. Workers like Pham Thi Ngoc, a wood production employee in Bien Hoa, hope for a steady income after a difficult 2024. Others, like single mother Tran Thi Thanh Nhan, long for a stable livelihood to support their families.
During the 2025 Lunar New Year, Dong Nai’s labor unions allocated approximately VND 450 billion to support workers, including VND 30 billion from the provincial government. Initiatives included free transportation for workers returning home, gifts, and financial aid for those in need. Many businesses also arranged transport for employees returning to work after the holiday.
Workers like Luong Thi Hang and Tran Thi Luyen, who were able to reunite with their families thanks to union support, expressed gratitude and hope for a busier year with more overtime to improve their earnings. Meanwhile, long-term workers such as Nguyen Thi Hue and Pham Ngoc Ho, who have spent over a decade in Dong Nai, look forward to increased business activity, better wages, and continued support from both employers and local authorities.
Despite economic challenges, most businesses in Dong Nai maintained Tet bonuses for employees, averaging VND 11 million per worker, with additional incentives for long-term staff. As operations resumed on February 3 (the sixth day of Tet), many companies distributed lucky money to employees, signaling a fresh start for the new working year.
