Located in Xuan Bac Commune, Xuan Loc District, the substation will have a total capacity of 1,800 MVA, with 900 MVA to be installed in the initial phase. The project includes the development of two 3.5-kilometer double-circuit 500kV transmission lines and an 11.8-kilometer four-circuit 220kV transmission line, crossing several communes within Xuan Loc District.

According to the Vietnam News Agency, the project is set for completion in 2026. It is expected to enhance power supply for Dong Nai and other southeastern provinces, alleviating the load on existing 500/220kV transformers at the Song May, Long Thanh, and Phu My substations while also reducing pressure on the 220kV network.

The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) has been tasked with managing all land acquisition, environmental impact assessment, occupational safety, and fire prevention requirements. The company must also oversee the conversion of agricultural land and ensure the transmission line foundations align with zoning plans.

Any adjustments deviating from the approved investment decision must comply with regulations.

In a separate development, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son has approved an investment of VND1.98 trillion for the 500kV Haiphong – Thai Binh transmission line.

Developed by EVNNPT, the 38.3-kilometer double-circuit line will connect the 500kV substations in Haiphong and Thai Binh, passing through multiple districts. The project is expected to bolster electricity supply for Haiphong City, Hai Duong Province, and surrounding areas, with completion targeted for the second quarter of 2026.
