(DN)- In 2024, Dong Nai continued to lead the country in new rural development (NRD), ranking first in the number of model NRD communes and second in advanced NRD communes.
Building on these achievements, the province has set ambitious targets for 2025, aiming for 10 more communes to achieve advanced NRD status, four to become model NRD communes, and three districts to complete advanced NRD development. Xuân Lộc District is also expected to reach model NRD district status.

Efforts toward advanced new rural development
Currently, 106 out of 116 communes (91.4%) have achieved advanced NRD status, and 33 communes (28.5%) have been recognized as model NRD communes, surpassing initial goals. However, to reach provincial-level advanced NRD status by 2025, local authorities must intensify efforts.
To support this, Đồng Nai’s People’s Committee has issued Plan No. 414/KH-UBND, outlining key 2025 objectives, including more 8 communes reaching advanced NRD status, more 4 model NRD communes, ensuring no commune loses its NRD certification, meeting criteria for water supply, health insurance, vocational training, and poverty reduction.
Several districts have already taken proactive steps. Tân Phú, despite its initial disadvantages, achieved notable progress in 2024 with five advanced NRD communes and two model NRD communes. The district now aims to achieve advanced NRD district status in 2025, ahead of schedule.
According to Vice Chairman Phạm Ngọc Hưng of Tân Phú District People's Committee, a key focus is agricultural development, including high-tech farming and organic agriculture. The district now boasts over 3,600 hectares of durian plantations, the largest in the province.
Achieving model new rural development standards
Xuân Lộc is among four districts nationwide piloting the model NRD district initiative. Having met all necessary criteria ahead of schedule, the district is set to be officially recognized as a model NRD district in 2025.
Xuân Lộc’s agricultural sector has seen remarkable growth, with specialty crops such as durian, mangosteen, mango, dragon fruit, and organic farming contributing to an annual high-tech agricultural output of over 11.7 trillion VND.
According to Nguyễn Thị Cát Tiên, Chairman of Xuân Lộc District People’s Committee, the district's agricultural production value has reached 232.4 million VND per hectare per year, with some high-tech farming models yielding over 1 billion VND per hectare annually. Average rural income in the district now stands at 95.38 million VND per year, among the highest in the province.
