(DN)- According to the Dong Nai Statistics Office, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in January increased by 1.16% compared to December 2024.

Among the 11 main categories of consumer goods and services, seven recorded price increases, three saw declines, and one remained stable. The highest increase was in medicine and healthcare services category, which surged by over 13.7% from the previous month, significantly impacting the overall CPI rise. This sharp increase was attributed to the price adjustments mandated by Resolution No. 74/NQ-HĐND, issued on December 20, 2024, by the Provincial People’s Council. The resolution set new pricing regulations for medical services covered by health insurance as well as non-insurance-covered services at public healthcare facilities in the province, resulting in higher costs for various medical treatments.

Additionally, the food and food services experienced a considerable price rise. As January coincided with the peak shopping season for the Lunar New Year, the surge in demand for essential food items—such as meat, rice, fresh vegetables, fruits, and processed foods—contributed to the overall price hike.
