(ĐN)- Since late 2024, raw cashew prices have continuously set new records due to a sharp decline in supply. At the beginning of the 2025 harvest season, prices ranged from 33,000 to 35,000 VND/kg, approximately 10,000 VND/kg higher than the same period last year. This price has boosted farmers' profits, while processing enterprises are focusing on value-added products to expand the domestic market.

In 2024, Vietnam's cashew exports exceeded $4.37 billion for the first time in history, with Dong Nai's export revenue reaching nearly $511 million, a 45% increase compared to the previous year. However, in the first two months of 2025, export volume fell by 32% and value dropped by 14%, despite the average export price rising by nearly 27% to $6,800 per ton.
Soaring raw cashew prices have pushed up production costs, putting pressure on processing companies. With a tighter supply, businesses must increase capital for raw material reserves, while consumption demand has shown signs of slowing down. However, with the growing global preference for nutritious snacks and rising import demand, the industry remains optimistic about sustaining its growth in 2025.
While high cashew prices benefit farmers, they also pose challenges for processors in terms of supply and costs. Despite a difficult start to 2025, export prospects remain positive thanks to rising consumer demand and expanding markets.
