Building modern agricultural sector

In 2024, Dong Nai's agricultural, forestry, and fishery production value reached VND 50.55 trillion, a 3.53% increase from 2023, ranking among the top provinces in the Southeast region.

Modernizing agricultural production

To sustain this growth, Đồng Nai aims to further develop a high-value, modern agricultural sector in 2025. The province is focusing on transitioning to concentrated, organic, and high-tech farming. Key initiatives include restructuring low-value crops into high-value fruits, vegetables, flowers, and medicinal plants while establishing branded, traceable agricultural products.

Currently, Đồng Nai has 1,775 agricultural processing businesses, including 144 large-scale facilities processing over 70,000 tons of animal and plant products annually. The province also boasts approximately 87,000 cubic meters of cold storage capacity.

In livestock farming, Đồng Nai is shifting towards large-scale, high-tech farms. The province maintains over 2 million pigs and 25 million poultry, with a growing emphasis on economic livestock such as swiftlet farming. Đồng Nai now leads the Southeast region with 1,370 swiftlet farms producing about 15 tons of bird's nest annually. The province also promotes sustainable, organic livestock production and closed-loop supply chains.

For aquaculture, the province maintains 8,700 hectares of water surface for fish and shrimp farming. By 2025, at least 20% of aquaculture areas will apply advanced and eco-friendly technology, targeting key species like whiteleg shrimp, giant freshwater prawns, and tilapia.

Investment attraction

With extensive agricultural production, Đồng Nai is well-positioned to attract investment in deep-processing industries. The province is expanding its market for processed agricultural products domestically and internationally.

Companies like Koyu & Unitek (Loteco Industrial Park, Biên Hòa City) continue to thrive, exporting 40 processed chicken products while expanding into markets like Japan, Hong Kong, and Europe. Đồng Nai is also accelerating the development of two agricultural processing industrial clusters covering 107 hectares in Định Quán and Cẩm Mỹ districts, as well as the second phase of the Giầu Dây wholesale food market in Thống Nhất District.

In Cẩm Mỹ District, efforts to attract investment in agricultural processing are increasing, with 23,300 hectares of industrial crops such as rubber, pepper, and coffee. The district has designated a 54-hectare industrial cluster for agricultural processing in Long Giao and is expediting land auctions to select investors.

With these strategies, Đồng Nai aims to establish itself as a leader in modern, high-value agriculture, ensuring sustainable growth and expanded market opportunities.
