(ĐN)- Over recent years, Dong Nai province has actively promoted sustainable urban agriculture, particularly following the approval of the “Urban Agriculture Development Plan for the Southwest Region of Dong Nai” through 2030. This initiative aims to restructure agriculture by diversifying urban farming models combined with high-tech agriculture and large-scale production linked to market demand.

Various localities including Bien Hoa, Long Khanh, Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, and others have embraced this approach, leveraging their industrial, service, and tourism strengths to attract investment in urban and high-tech farming as well as agri-tourism. Such efforts support economic modernization and help agriculture serve as a backbone for tourism and industry.

Notably, several models have been implemented: hydroponic vegetable farming in Vinh Tan commune, clean vegetable cooperatives in Thong Nhat district, and high-tech leafy vegetable production in Bien Hoa city. These projects illustrate successful applications of advanced technology and value chain development.

Experts emphasize that sustainable urban agriculture must prioritize green growth, circular economy practices, renewable energy use, and high-quality workforce training. This is essential amid growing climate change impacts and urbanization pressures.

Moreover, cooperatives like Truong Phat in Nhon Trach invest in processing and branding to enhance product value and competitiveness. Local authorities are encouraged to promote technology adoption, provide funding support, and foster awareness about clean and sustainable farming.

In conclusion, Dong Nai’s urban agriculture development is moving steadily toward a resilient, technology-driven, and environmentally friendly future that aligns with market demands and sustainable growth goals.
