Two notable events that attracted the attention of logistics enterprises in the first months of 2023 were Dong Nai's first freight train by rail from Shandong (China) to Trang Bom Station (Vietnam) and Dong Nai People’s Committee approved plan of the Cainiao Dong Nai Smart Logistics Centre in Trang Bom district.
The direct rail transport route from China to Dong Nai will open up opportunities for direct freight between the two countries in the near future.
Meanwhile, the Cainiao Smart Logistics Centre project in Dong Nai invested by Cainiao Network will meet the increasing demand for manufacturing enterprises operating in the province.
Xing Zhang, general manager of Cainiao Network Vietnam, confirmed that over an area of 168,000 square metres, the Cainiao Dong Nai Smart Logistics Centre would provide around 90,000sq.m of premium warehouse leasing space to support business supply chain needs amid disruptions and surging demand.
Zhang said, Dong Nai was an industrial and logistics centre that is fully connected by transport modes such as road and sea and by air.
“The enhanced connectivity and infrastructure projects will benefit key industries in Dong Nai such as furniture, garment, commodities, and trading businesses, which often utilise warehousing facilities such as bonded warehouses and general warehouses for their logistics operations,” he added.
Cainiao Smart Logistics Centre in Dong Nai is the second centre of Cainiao Network after Cainiao P.A.T Logistics Centre in Long An went into operation in the second quarter of 2022.
Recently, Dong Nai has been on the radar of many foreign businesses. According to Jang Bok Sang, vice president of Korea Trade and Industry Association, many Korean enterprises which projects in Dong Nai, want the investment in improving technical infrastructure and logistics to be increased.
“If Dong Nai province has enough land, simplifies administrative procedures, and shortens the time to process documents, it will receive a large capital flow from Korea,” Sang said.
As a locality in the southern key economic region, Dong Nai has many advantages to develop logistics.
The first is the geographical location. Dong Nai is only about 30km from the centre of Ho Chi Minh City and 40km from the Thi Vai - Cai Mep port cluster of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. Currently, the infrastructure of Dong Nai has been invested in synchronously with many arterial roads.
Dong Nai will have more advantages in logistics development in the next three years when Long Thanh International Airport and Phuoc An Port (Nhon Trach district), which can receive up to 50,000 dead-weight tonnage ships, are put into operation.
In addition to the soon-to-be-constructed Cainiao Smart Logistics Centre, Dong Nai has planned a 614-hectare eastern transhipment warehouse next to Trang Bom Station to develop warehousing and transhipment services for enterprises in Dong Nai and neighboring provinces.
