Tran Van Thi, director of the My Thuan Project Management Board, which has replaced the Ministry of Transport to manage the project, said on November 25 that the board was cooperating with sponsors to prepare the bidding for the installation and construction packages of the component project.

Procedures are being sped up to break ground for the component project in the first quarter of next year, he added.

The road, including 6.3 kilometers running across Dong Nai Province and 2.45 kilometers in HCMC, will connect Provincial Road 25B in the former’s Nhon Trach District and the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway in Thu Duc City.

The total investment in the component project is estimated at over VND5.3 trillion, which will be sourced from South Korea’s official development assistance loans and the State budget.

The 90-kilometer ring road will pass through HCMC, Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Long An and comprise four sections: Tan Van-Binh Chuan, Tan Van-Nhon Trach, Binh Chuan-National Highway 22 and National Highway 22-Ben Luc.

Due to the importance of the ring road, the four localities have recently proposed the Government allocate the fund from the socioeconomic development and recovery program to the first phase of the project, which will require some VND83.3 trillion.

In case that the State budget cannot cover all the costs of the first phase, the localities will pay for the installation and construction costs, while the State budget will cover site clearance costs, the local media reported.
