Dong Nai has asked the government to fast-track investment procedures for two VND91 trillion (USD2.45 billion) railway projects.
The 38-kilometre VND40.5 trillion (USD1.7 billion) Thu Thiem-Long Thanh International Airport light railway route, runs from Thu Thiem Station in HCM City’s Thu Duc City to Dong Nai’s Long Thanh International Airport.
The other route is the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau railway line, which runs for 84km from Trang Bom Railway Station in Dong Nai Province to Cai Mep-Thi Vai International Port in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.
The two railway routes are expected to reduce traffic congestion along the HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, National Highway 51 and the planned Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway.
The two projects were added to the national railway network development plan for the 2021-2030 period following prime ministerial sign-off.
