Connecting HCMC and neighboring Dong Nai Province, the 55km expressway has a high traffic flow rate, especially along the 24km HCMC-Long Thanh section.
Traffic at the toll stations often grinds to a standstill, particularly on weekends, due mainly to manual toll collections.
Data showed around 50,000 vehicles pass through the expressway.
The Government has been pushing for the installation of ETC systems on all toll roads nationwide to facilitate traffic flow and boost toll collection transparency, with the deadline set for August 1. ETC systems enable road users to pay the toll automatically without stopping when passing toll gates, helping reduce traffic congestion at toll stations.
The ETC lanes at the the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway toll stations will made ready by the end of this month.
Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho yesterday, July 18, made a field trip to inspect the installation of ETC systems for the expressway and the 9.5km Road 319 connecting to the expressway through an interchange, reported the traffic news website baogiaothong.vn.
Road 319 in Dong Nai Province, which was opened to traffic in September 2021, helps shorten the distance between HCMC and Dong Nai and between HCMC and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, and ease traffic on National Highway 51 which links Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
