The ministry has asked the relevant units to accelerate the progress of the project.

Regarding runways, taxiways, internal roads, electricity and water supply, telecom, lighting and jet fuel pumping systems and an operation building, ACV must complete procedures to develop these items from June next year.

The Ministry of Transport also requested ACV to review, design and set out the progress in December next year for items whose basic designs have yet to be worked out.

As for items conducted by the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), the corporation must quickly complete procedures to choose contractors for consulting packages, ensuring the progress of the first phase of the entire project.

VATM must also report the progress of a 123-meter operating tower and flight control system to the Ministry of Transport.

The Long Thanh International Airport project will be executed in three phases with an estimated cost of VND336.6 trillion.

In the first phase, a passenger terminal, a runway and supporting facilities will be developed to ensure the airport would be able to handle 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year. Phase one is expected to be completed in 2025 at the latest. Its estimated cost is more than VND114.45 trillion.

In phase two, an additional runway and a passenger terminal will be built to help the project reach an annual handling capacity of 50 million passengers and 1.5 million tons of cargo.

The investor will complete all the facilities of the project to serve 100 million passengers and five million tons of cargo a year.
