Contractors are striving to complete the subproject by December 31 this year, news site Vietnamplus reported.

To date, the subproject is over 28% complete, up over 2% against early this month. If contractors keep working during the Tet holiday, the completed workload is expected to rise to some 30% after Tet.

As for packages lagging behind schedule, contractors have updated their plans as required by the Ministry of Transport to mobilize more human resources and equipment to ensure the progress of the subproject by April 30.

The representative of the Thang Long Project Management Board, the investor of the subproject, said the XL-01 package was over 34% complete, the highest among four packages.

According to a report by the Transport Engineering Construction and Quality Management Bureau under the Ministry of Transport, as of December last year, the Phan Thiet-Dau Giay subproject had faced a shortage of building materials, specifically soil for leveling.

Localities where the expressway will pass through have rolled up their sleeves to provide materials for the subproject.

The Phan Thiet-Dau Giay expressway was designed to be 99 kilometers long and pass through the Binh Thuan and Dong Nai provinces. Work on the subproject started in late September, 2020 and was expected to be completed in 24 months.

In the first phase, the subproject will have four lanes and require an estimated investment of some VND12.6 trillion, including over VND7.2 trillion for construction.

It is part of the North-South Expressway project, which will connect the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, the Long Thanh International Airport and the southern key economic provinces, promoting their socioeconomic development.
