The southern province of Dong Nai successfully organized a training workshop on "Compliance with regulations on the origin and transshipment of goods exported to the US market."

The workshop, held both offline and online on December 10, attracted the participation of 43 and 52 delegates in person and online, respectively.

It was an opportunity for both Vietnamese and American participants to exchange and clarify necessary information in order to improve compliance with the regulations on the origin of goods as well as the transshipment for goods exported to the US market.

US Customs experts attending the workshop shared relevant details, including specific regulations towards helping local Customs department officials as well as local businesses understand and take effective measures to prevent violations.

Workshop participants also discussed guidelines and proposed measures to support Vietnamese enterprises in complying with the relevant rules. The discussions generated diverse and practical opinions.

The experts also presented an overview of the tariff and non-tariff regulations of the United States as well as an overview of regulations on declaring the country of origin of goods. They provided illustrative examples of cases were false declarations about the country of origin were detected.

Currently, the province has 1,541 foreign investment projects from 45 countries and territories with a total registered capital of over 32 billion USD. Of these, the United States has 27 projects with a total investment capital of more than 269 million USD.

The US has been Dong Nai's largest export market for many years, accounting for nearly 30% of total export turnover. The US is also a large import market for the province. Therefore, organizing a training workshop on relevant rules and regulations was a necessary and timely initiative that would help promote exports and trade cooperation with US partners, participants agreed.

Attending the workshop were: representatives from the Provincial People's Committee Office, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Planning and Investment, Management Board of Industrial Parks, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Information and Communications, Department of Transport, Cooperative Alliance, Provincial Business Association, Provincial Customs Department, Provincial Tax Department, Provincial Market Management Department, Provincial Import-Export Association, Young Entrepreneurs Association, Livestock Association of the province, enterprises in Dong Nai that have goods exported to the US market, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/USAID TFP Project.
