The southern province held a conference recently to assign the targets and calculate state budget estimates.

The 31 development targets covering the economy, society, national defense and security of the province covers seven economic indicators, three environmental indicators, 12 social security indicators, two in culture, education and training and seven in defense-security and information security of state agencies.
Specifically, the province targets that its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) rises by 6.5-7 percent; per capita GRDP reaches VND126.3 million; export value increases 8-8.5 percent; and total social investment capital reaches VND100.07 trillion. Having at least 15 communes reaching the level of advanced new rural area is another target.
To accomplish the 31 targets, the province will focus on implementing well eight key tasks: To accelerate the progress of provincial planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050; to focus on solutions that create breakthroughs to innovate growth models and improve productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness; to shorten processes and reduce the time taken to carry out administrative procedures, reducing administrative costs; to improve the competitiveness of enterprises; to continue to mobilize resources for effective investment in social infrastructure works and improve the quality of public services in order to serve people's lives; to deploy and implement socioeconomic, defense and security solutions from the beginning of the year; to focus on budget revenue and expenditure, disbursement of public investment capital to renovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system, to make public non-business units operate effectively; and to obtain effective disease prevention.
The conference noted that in 2021, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the province had not grown as expected.
Cao Tien Dung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that in 2021, departments and localities made great efforts in pandemic control and economic recovery, but there were several limitations.
The monitoring of performances of some units and localities in the province had not been done very well. Disbursement of public investment and application of information technology for management and administration were not satisfactory, he said.
The coming year will present advantages as also pose many challenges based on the domestic and international economic situation, with continued negative impacts of new variants of the novel coronavirus, Dung said.
Therefore, he directed departments, agencies, organizations and other administrative units at levels to overcome limitations soon, actively implement their tasks and continue to innovate and be flexible in doing so. They should also strengthen administrative discipline and synchronously implement solutions in organization and administration as they strive to meet assigned targets for 2022, he added.
