(ĐN)- The provincial consumer price index (CPI) in July grew by 0.62 percent against June and 2.64 percent year-on-year, according to Dong Nai Statistics Department.
Five out of the 11 main groups of goods and services saw increases, with transport taking the lead (2.82 percent) due to the adjustments of oil and gas prices on July 12-27.
It was followed by the group of housing, electricity, water, fuel, and building materials (0.7 percent), restaurants and catering services (0.63 percent), equipment and household appliances (0.21 percent).
The department attributed the increase to rising food prices caused by buying in localities hit by the fourth COVID-19 resurgence and higher demand for electricity during summer.
Among those experiencing a month-on-month decline, prices of postal and telecom services were hit the hardest by COVID-19, dropping 0.24 percent. It was followed by cultural, entertainment and tourism services (0.05 percent), and garment-textile, headwear and footwear (0.04 percent).
