Compared to April, increases were seen in the prices of six out of 11 main groups of goods and services, with transport taking the lead (0.74 percent) due to increasing petrol prices. It was followed by housing, electricity, fuel and construction materials (0.34 percent); equipment and household appliances (0.14 percent); garment-textile, headwear and footwear (0.09 percent); medicine and healthcare services (0.03 percent); and education (0.03 percent).
By contrast, prices of the three groups of beverage and tobacco; food and catering services; culture, entertainment and tourism decreased by 0.06 percent, 0.03 percent, and 0.02 percent, respectively.
In May, the price of gold increased 3.5 percent and that of US dollar declined 0.5 percent from the previous month.
