(ĐN) - Dong Nai’s cashew sector earned approximately US$24 million in export turnover in the first two months of this year, a year-on-year decrease of over 28 percent due to impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Cashew prices are low at present, according to Department of Statistics.

The price of fresh cashew nuts is now standing at just 24,000-26,000 VND per kilo at farms in Dong Nai. In the same period last year, the price was 30,000-34,000 VND per kilo for fresh cashews.

According to traders, the prices are still going down and there is no sign of an imminent recovery.

Local farmers are worried they will face pressure from traders to reduce prices even further in the next harvest season.
