(ĐN) – Dong Nai provincial Party Committee has recently held a conference to review the 15-year implementation of the Resolution No. 13-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee’s fifth plenum (tenure 9) on “Continuing to innovate, develop and improve the efficiency of collective economy” in the province.

Over the past 15 years, Dong Nai developed 389 cooperatives and People’s credit funds, a three-fold increase compared to 2003.

Many cooperatives and credit funds have been operating effectively with an average turnover of over VND11.6 billion and an average profit of nearly VND0.9 billion per year. They also created jobs for more than 175,000 laborers, especially those in remote and ethnic minority areas.

According to reports from collectives, the biggest difficulties for cooperatives and groups are lack of capital for production.

Dong Nai is now home to 1,146 cooperative groups with more than 29,000 members.

Speaking at the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary Ho Thanh Son of the provincial People's Party Committee stressed that the collective economy, which covers various fields such as agriculture, trade and services, credit and handicraft, has contributed markedly to the province’s socio-economic development.

He suggested local leaders to review the difficulties that the cooperatives are facing and open the way to resolving the issue. Accordingly, the localities need to boost the quality of their collective economy and increase the number of effective local economic models, create new-style cooperatives.
