Dong Nai completes building new rural areas

(ĐN)- Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue has recently signed decisions to recognize Dinh Quan, Tan Phu districts and Bien Hoa city as new-style rural areas, bringing the rate of districts and communes in Dong Nai meeting criteria to 100 percent.

Accordingly, Dong Nai was the first locality nationwide to complete the programme on building new-style rural areas.

Local officials attributed the success of the local new-style rural area programme to the right attitude which makes people the subject and also beneficiaries of the effort, with the highest goal being raising rural residents’ incomes.

Vice Chairman Vo Van Chanh of the provincial People’s Committee stressed that the province will maintain and upgrade criteria that Dong Nai met, ensuring sustainability in socio-economic and cultural development, and form concentrated growing and breeding areas and work towards commercial, modern and sustainable agricultural production.

Nguyen Minh Tien, Chief of Secretariat of the National Co-ordination Office of the National Target Programme on New Rural Development, also acknowledged Dong Nai’s success in building new rural areas, with 100 percent of its communes meeting all criteria for new rural areas and 17 communes achieving the revised higher criteria set by the province. He hoped that the province will continue to go in depth of the quality to make new rural areas more sustainable and more efficient.
