(ĐN)- According to Department of Industry and Trade, Dong Nai-based businesses exported 64,700 tonnes of coffee to earn US$98.8 million in the first four months of this year, down 25 percent in volume and 37 percent in value from a year ago.

Average export value hit US$1,527 per tonne, US$200 lower than that of previous year.

The cause for the fall in price is said to be a sharp increase in quantity in recent years.

The coffee export market is estimated to face difficulties due to the bumper crops, plentiful supplies from top coffee-growers such as Brazil and Indonesia.

Dong Nai’s coffee is now exported to over 30 countries over the world, mainly to the US, Germany, Italy, Belgium and the EU.

The current domestic buying price for coffee is VND30,500-31,500 per kilo.
