They have agreed on the scale and the time frame for the construction works and the sources of funds for the bridge connecting the city’s District 2 with Dong Nai’s Nhơn Trạch District over the Sai Gon River.
They will be responsible for building the approach roads on their respective sides.
The city People’s Committee will send a report on the progress of the project to the Ministry of Transport.
According to the city Department of Transport, the bridge will be 4.5km long and have eight lanes.
When completed, it will facilitate transport from HCM City not only to Nhon Trach District but also to the rest of Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.
In the near future, when the Long Thanh International Airport becomes operational (in Dong Nai Province), the Cat Lai Bridge will connect HCM City with the airport, helping ease congestion on the HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway.
