He insisted that the environmental impact assessment report for the project be presented for approval in March and the feasibility study be ready in June.

Further, the minister proposed ACV make a detailed report on the processes of execution for the projected airport and the difficulties facing the project, as well as the progress of recalling construction sites.

Speaking at a meeting chaired by the transport minister to take disciplinary action against the protracted execution of some aviation infrastructure projects, especially Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province, Lai Xuan Thanh, chairman of the ACV board, said that the consulting consortium comprising Japanese, French and Vietnamese firms was preparing the feasibility study for the first phase of the project.

The feasibility study will include an assessment of the status of the chosen site, updates on strategies for the development of the transport sector, forecasts of air transport demand and research on relationships involved in operations between the Tan Son Nhat and Long Thanh international airports.

Speaking of the design of passenger terminals, Thanh remarked that the consulting consortium had started to calculate and design the passenger terminals, including positions for placing aircraft in the parking area to ensure the efficiency of aviation transport operations and compliance with regulations of the International Civil Aviation Organization and Vietnam.

In addition, calculations and assessments of the scale, capacity and efficiency of other components such as office buildings, the emergency center, cargo terminals and maintenance areas are also being made.
