Dong Nai's socio-economic situation reviewed

(ĐN)- On January 3, Head of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education Thai Bao, Vice Chairwoman of People’s Committee Nguyen Hoa Hiep and Vice Chairman of People’s Council Pham Ngoc Tuan presided over a meeting to review the implementation of the province’s socio-economic tasks in 2018.

According to the provincial People’s Committee, Dong Nai achieved a gross regional domestic product growth of 8 percent and a per capita income of US$4,266 in 2018. The province recorded a trade surplus of US$2.6 billion, accounting for over 30 percent of the country's total trade surplus. So far, all communes in the province were recognized as new-style rural areas.

In the reviewed period, Dong Nai solved jobs for more than 85,300 laborers; the graduation rate was over 97 percent in the high school education system. The province invested more than VND6 trillion into local hospitals to enhance quality of health care services.

Dong Nai Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs also announced Tet bonuses planned by enterprises in the province for their employees during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday (Tet). Accordingly, the highest bonus is VND545 million; the average is VND7.5 million and the lowest VND200,000.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr Thai Bao suggested relevant agencies and localities to continue efforts to fulfilled socio-economic targets for 2019.
