(ĐN) – A seminar on Admission Temporaire-Temporary Admission (ATA) Carnet and the Registered Exporter System (REX) opened in Dong Nai on November 26, aiming to promote the application of new systems in the province to expand its export markets.
The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Department of Industry and Trade, and Dong Nai Import and Export Association co-organized the seminar.
Around 100 representatives from local enterprises attended the event.
The ATA Carnet, known as the “passport for goods” is an international customs document issued by 70 countries, allowing the holder to temporarily import goods without payment of normally applicable duties and taxes, including value-added taxes for up to one year.
The application of the ATA Carnet system is very important as it will make customs procedures much easier for local exporters to expand their overseas markets.
REX is the system of self-certification of goods’ origin performed by companies which themselves issue so-called statements of origin (instead of applying for a certificate of origin).
Viet Nam will apply the Registered Exporter System (REX) for goods exported to European Union countries, and Norway, Switzerland, and Turkey since 2019.
Accordingly, exporters have to register for a REX code with VCCI. A REX code is not required for exports whose EXW values do not exceed 6,000 EUR.
