(ĐN)- Dong Nai Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reported recent drops in pepper prices, both domestic and exported, in July.
The cause for the fall in prices is said to be a sharp increase in quantity from Indonesia and Malaysia.
According to the department, the current domestic buying price for dried raw black peppers is VND50,000 - 51,000 per kilo, decreased by VND4,000-5,000 per kg compared to last month’s average price, a low record in the last ten years.
The export price for pepper also dropped by US$150 per ton to US$2,600 during the last month. Dong Nai’s pepper is exported mainly to the US, India and the EU. The province is now one of the country's largest pepper producing regions.
